Our Mission and Age Groups

TinkerSpaces is an engineering space dedicated to kids and teenagers ages 7–18. We offer fun and educational programs that encourage creativity and hands-on learning. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of engineers and makers by providing access to tools, workshops, and mentorship.

Explore Our Age-Specific Focus Areas

Ages 7-10: The Tinkerers

This is the introductory phase where students learn the fundamentals of building. Projects focus on basic mechanics, simple physics, and easy-to-understand circuits. We emphasize **following instructions, safety, and building confidence** in manipulating tools and materials.

  • Focus: Simple machines, block coding, magnetic and snap circuits.
  • Goal: Develop fundamental motor skills and critical thinking.

Ages 11-14: The Builders

Students move into intermediate challenges involving foundational robotics and 3D modeling. They transition from simple kits to **coding microcontrollers** and using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. The focus shifts to problem-solving and design iteration.

  • Focus: Introductory robotics, 3D design, Arduino basics, team challenges.
  • Goal: Apply technical knowledge to design and execute solutions.

Ages 15-18: The Engineers

This advanced track is designed for high school students preparing for STEM careers. It includes deep dives into **advanced electronics, software development (Python/JavaScript), and complex hardware integration**. Students complete large-scale capstone projects.

  • Focus: Advanced circuits, Python programming, IoT (Internet of Things) devices, project management.
  • Goal: Develop college-level engineering and computer science skills.
